Gut Nehmten from above — thatched houses on Lake Plön

Seit MDCCLXVIII

The Estate Nehmten.

Eight generations of family ownership on Lake Plön.

Gutshaus Nehmten — neoclassical manor house with stairway and blooming rhododendron

— Family · Tradition & Modernity —

In family hands since 1768.

Gut Nehmten has been in family hands since 1768. Alongside traditional forestry, the estate's main pillars are agriculture, holiday rentals and leases — together with parts of Lake Plön and Stocksee. Today the farmland mainly supplies feedstock for our own biogas plant; the waste heat from power generation runs a district loop that warms every building on the estate.

Nehmten Forest, beech wood in spring

— Forest & Firewood —

A thousand hectares of Nehmten Forest.

Nehmten Forest is one of the larger contiguous woodlands in Schleswig-Holstein. About half is deciduous — beech before oak. Conifers are mainly spruce and larch, followed by Douglas fir. We manage it by natural-forestry principles, with our own crew and machinery; the operation is PEFC-certified. Firewood is available self-cut or stacked along the forest road — please get in touch directly for pricing and pickup.

Local and simply natural.

If you're a hunter, fallow, roe or wild boar can be stalked on the estate — please get in touch for terms. Nehmten venison is renowned for its tender meat and flavour: fallow, roe and wild boar, plus grilling sausages, are sold direct from the estate, portioned and frozen. No long supply chains — come on by.

Riding through a forest path at Gut Nehmten

— Riding in the Forest —

Fifteen kilometres of bridle paths.

The estate and the village of Nehmten maintain a 15-kilometre network of bridle paths, free to ride. The trails lead along meadows and fields, through deciduous and coniferous woodland, in parts along Lake Plön and Stocksee. To the south they connect seamlessly with the Eutin/Holm state forest. Under Schleswig-Holstein nature- and forest-protection law, riding in nature is permitted only on marked trails — we hope you enjoy your ride in tune with the landscape.
